Put together your own packs of bulls or use our pre-selected No Choice packs to meet specific breeding criteria.
Alpha packs give you a choice of bulls at a discounted price. To get the discount you must order the minimum number of bulls and straws (depending on the type of pack purchased).
You’ll get equal quantities of straws from each bull in the pack.
Choose from seven types of Alpha packs:
1. Classic Pack for Daughter Proven bulls
Put together packs of 3, 4 or 5+ Daughter Proven bulls — the more bulls you choose the cheaper each straw. Choose bulls from one of the options below, or a mixed selection.

- Jersey
- KiwiCross
- Ayrshire
Daughter Proven Holstein-Friesian, Jersey and KiwiCross bulls are all graduates of our Sire Proving Scheme. We don’t do the proving for the Ayrshire bulls — it’s done by Ayrshire New Zealand.
Minimum order: 30 straws.
2. Genomic Pack to fast-track genetic gains
Put together packs of 5 or more Genomically Selected bulls. Choose bulls from one of the options below or a mixed selection.

- Jersey
- KiwiCross
Genomically Selected bulls are a good choice if you want to fast-track genetic gains through early access to bulls we expect to become star performers. In spring we add a number of promising yearlings to the mix.
Minimum order: 30 straws.
3. Adapta Pack for Daughter Proven and Genomically Selected sires
Put together packs of 6+ bulls — Mixture of Daughter Proven and Genomically Selected bulls.
Choose bulls from one of the options below, or a mixed selection.

Minimum order: 30 straws,
Minimum 3 Daughter Proven bulls.
4. Economy Pack for great-value genetics at a good price
Put together packs of 3 or more Economy bulls. Choose bulls from one of the options below or a mixed selection.

Economy bulls are a good choice if you’re looking for great-value genetics at a good price.
Minimum order: 20 straws.
5. Ayrshire Pack for Daughter Proven Ayrshire bulls
Put together packs of 3 or more Daughter Proven Ayrshire bulls. We don’t do the proving ourselves — it’s done by Ayrshire New Zealand.
Minimum order: 20 straws.
6. Young Ayrshire Pack for promising young Ayrshire bulls
Put together packs of 3 or more promising young Ayrshire bulls selected by Ayrshire New Zealand.
Minimum order: 20 straws.
7. No Choice packs to meet specific breeding criteria
No Choice packs are made up of teams of bulls that we put together to meet specific breeding criteria. We offer No Choice packs across a range of breeding criteria and several breeds, including beef breeds.
Minimum order: 10 to 30 straws (depending on the pack).
There’s no need to go through the bull lists to find the right bulls for the job — we’ve put together teams of top bulls that will deliver the traits you’re looking for.
Use No Choice packs for:
- once-a-day milking
- high input feeding
We also offer No Choice Packs for:
- short gestation length
- compact calving
- polled progeny
No Choice dairy packs
We offer one type of No Choice dairy pack with teams of Holstein-Friesian, Jersey or KiwiCross bulls:
- Once-A-Day pack – breed cows suitable for milking once a day
We offer three types of No Choice dairy packs with teams of Holstein-Friesian or KiwiCross bulls:
- High Input pack – breed cows suitable for high input feeding
- Polled + BW pack – breed polled cows with good BW
- Compact calving + BW pack – reduce the spread of calving and produce calves you can use as replacements
We offer two No Choice packs with teams of just KiwiCross or Ayrshire:
- KiwiCross high jersey content pack – for farmers looking for KiwiCross bulls with a higher Jersey content.
- Young Ayrshire pack – a cost-effective way of breeding Ayrshire replacements.
Minimum order: 30 straws
No Choice Short Gestation Length dairy and beef packs
Reduce gestation length by an average of 9 to 12 days. Use No Choice Short Gestation Length (SGL) Packs in late mating to get:
- more compact calving
- more days in milk – and more profit
- more time for cows to recover – and more likelihood of getting back into calf
We offer No Choice SGL Packs in three dairy and two beef breeds:
- Crossbred
- Holstein-Friesian
- Jersey
- Hereford
- Angus
Each pack is made up of a single breed.
All the bulls in the packs are selected for their SGL traits, rather than for their breeding worth. That includes the Crossbred bulls, which are separate from the bulls in our KiwiCross teams.
You can’t keep the offspring from any of the No Choice SGL Packs as replacements or use them for breeding, but you can raise them for meat.

No Choice beef packs
We offer No Choice beef packs in a range of breeds. The bulls are selected predominantly for low birth weights and calving ease.

Volume discounts (1-10%) may apply.
For efficiency, orders are packed and dispatched according to technicians’ runs. This is to ensure orders arrive on-farm for planned start of mating. Charging occurs in the month of dispatch and therefore, at times, customers may be charged in the month prior to starting AB.
Cancellations
Alpha orders cannot be cancelled within 30 days of the AB start date, as per LIC's Conditions and Service Rules. Alpha orders altered after the dispatch date may incur a $35 handling fee.
Dispatches
All Alpha Nominated DIY orders will incur a $35 dispatch charge.

You will move up or down the InvestaMate scale each season depending on whether the 95% threshold was met in the previous season.
Straw purchases may comprise any combination of Premier Sires or Alpha straws. Premier Sires Fresh Sexed and Sire Proving Scheme inseminations contribute to the 95% threshold of (InvestaMate) qualifying purchases.
‘Qualifying’ animals are female animals born prior to 31 December 2021 in the ‘herd’ at the time of October charging. ‘Herd’ is defined as the ‘whole herd’ group in MINDA. The InvestaMate discount does not apply to Premier Sires Fresh Sexed or Sire Proving Scheme products (i.e. InvestaMate discounts only apply to Premier Sires Daughter Proven, Premier Sires Forward Pack, Premier Sires A2/A2, and Alpha products).
